The MMO developer announced recently that it has put the Steam release of Guild Wars 2 on hold to focus on the game’s upcoming expansion, End of Dragons. Currently, you must download ArenaNet’s own client to play Guild Wars 2, which is a free-to-play game.
In the post announcing the Steam delay, ArenaNet also indicated that it is working on the finale to The Icebrood Saga, the fifth season of the MMO’s Living World events. That final chapter is called The Icebrood Saga: Champions, and ArenaNet will reveal the trailer for it on November 5.
ArenaNet previously announced Guild Wars 2’s third expansion, End of Dragons, back in August. Despite its name, it’s been confirmed by ArenaNet that End of Dragons will not conclude Guild Wars 2’s storyline. It is currently scheduled to launch in 2021. Its latest expansion, Path of Fire, was released in September 2017.
